The Sand Mountain Ghost Lights

I recently found out about the Sand Mountain Ghost Lights.  Sand Mountain is located near Mt. Sterling, Ky., between Jeffersonville and Means on Ky 460.  The are reported to be white orbs which will follow you around the roads of the area.  It was known to be a much more frequent phenomena in the early 1900's but is reported much less now.  The area like all others, has become much more populated during the last few years.  I believe these lights to be similar to the Brown Mountain Light of North Carolina.  I hope to go there soon with my night vision equipment and capture some on film.  It is said that they think these may be related to natural gas wells in the area.

  1. I am on sand mountain as it belongs, in it's entirety, to my grandfather. I have lived in Mt. Sterling my whole life and haven't visited this place in 9 years. This land will soon belong to me and my siblings. I am with two friends and we are camping on top of the mountain beside a cliff face. The stories of the lights have been passed down through my family for years. My grandfather has seen them. His grandfather has seen them. I hope to encounter them myself this evening. There are some erie sounds up here but we are attributing it mostly to mountain lions and bob cats. If you want to know more about this place, let me know. I would be more than happy to take you on a tour of this beautiful piece of mountainous land. I also find it quite interesting that the story that this mountain was compared to occurred in North Carolina as my family, the Gibbs Family, came from North Carolina after settling there from England. What I find most odd is the fact that I am often experiencing paranormal events in my life. I have even tried to accept that I may be a medium for such activity. Is this coincidence? I am still unsure but I am trying to find out. If there are people interested in helping me conduct research I'm this area, I hope that you will leave contact information. Please feel free to comment or inquire as I am as curious as you.
